Flash Director Confirms Storyline Based in Comics
What course The Flash movie will take has been up in the air, though a few key comic storylines have been the expected basis for the plot. The Flash movie director Andy Muschietti (It and It: Chapter Two) has now confirmed that it will adapt the Flashpoint storyline.
The Flash will travel back in time in an attempt to save his mother from being killed by Reverse-Flash. In the comic storyline, when Barry returns to the present it is drastically different than when he left as a result of his actions.
In the movie, Michael Keaton will return to playing Batman, as an alternate reality version that could potentially become part of the main timeline. This could change the trajectory of the DCEU since Barry has worked alongside Ben Affleck’s version of Batman.
Ezra Miller will reprise his role as Barry Allen/the Flash for the movie. He joined the DCEU for a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice then starred in Justice League.
The movie was initially announced in 2018 but has cycled through several directors and juggled release dates. It is now set for theatrical release on June 3, 2022.
